ESSEX PHOTOGRAPHER

For people who have moved onto Digital SLR and want to know how to get the best out of their new toy.

In my travels over the last few years I have come across so many people who have decided to move on up with their photography, going from film to the very basic digital snapshot camera and now to the affordable Digital SLR. However, many still use their new camera as an automatic piece of kit without exploring its potential or their own.

When I have been out taking photos I have often spent an hour or two showing strangers how to make the best use of their equipment and how to compose good pictures. What is depth of field? What’s the best shutter speed or aperture to use for a certain shot? These are the questions I am often asked as I try to get them off of the basic AUTOMATIC MODE.

Many have asked where they can go on a course to learn more. Although I am based in the South East, in Essex, I couldn't find anything on offer on the Internet. So I have now decided to offer one to one tuition and courses myself. I have been called Mr Motivator by many people and have a wicked sense of humour, so you can expect to have fun as well as learn a lot about your hobby.

There are many great locations locally to practice photography. How about Constable Country (famous for Flatford Mill), Windmills, River Walks, Maldon Marina, Felixstowe Docks? There are also various RHS gardens for tuition in macro and general flower photography. Colchester Zoo is nearby for the animal shots, and even the City of London with all of its famous landmarks is only 40 minutes away on the train.

My fees are £35 per hour and £180 per six-hour day (not inc insurance). You will have the use of my Manfrotto Tripod and a Guitto monopod. Also if you have a Canon camera you can try out my Pro Canon Image Stabilizer Lenses, the 24 - 105L IS and the 70 - 200L IS 2.8, plus an amazing Canon 10 - 22mm Ultra Wide angle lens for large groups and fun up close shots.

I also have a set of Cokin Pro Z ND Grads, which you can experiment with. For indoor shots I have full studio lighting and backdrops available for learning how to shoot the very best model shots.
